HRANA News Agency – Soroush Sabet – A Leftist student – was released from Evin Prison after serving his sentence.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Soroush was transferred to Ward 350 in Evin Prison on 2nd September 2012 to serve his 2 year sentence. He received this suspended sentence with regards to his attendance at Leftist student protests back in 2007.
His sentence was approved by Judge Zargarnejad of the 16th Branch of Islamic Revolutionary Appeal Court in Tehran.
Soroush Sabet won the Bronze Medal at Computer Olympia and held the second place in Mathematics at Kharazmi Olympia both back in 2002. He also won the first place at Master’s level National University Entrance Examination in 2009.
This Leftist activist student was charged with “acts against the national security: protest and collude with intent to disturb the peace and national security” and was sentenced to two year imprisonment.
