Elham Afkari Arrested in Shiraz

Security forces arrested Elham Afkari in Shiraz and took her to an undisclosed location. She is the sister of Iranian wrestler Navid Afkari, who was executed on September 12, 2020, in Adel-Abad Prison despite serious ambiguities in his case and worldwide outcry to halt the execution.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, Elham Afkari, Navid Afkari’s sister, was arrested by security forces in Shiraz.

Breaking the news, her brother, Saeed Afkari, wrote on social media, “My sister Elham Afkari was arrested in Shiraz, and there is no news of her husband and her three-year-old daughter Liana.”

IRGC-affiliated news agency Tasnim, however, claimed that Afakri was arrested by intelligence agents at the border while trying to flee the country.

Spanish National Ana Baneira Arrested in Iran

During the nationwide protests, security forces arrested at least two Spanish nationals who are still in detention. 41-year-old Santiago Sanchez was arrested in Saqqez after visiting Mahsa Amini’s burial place. HRANA has identified the second individual as Ana Baneira, 24 years old.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, Spanish citizen Ana Baneira, age 24, was arrested and jailed in Iran.

Baneira’s whereabouts and the date she was arrested are still unknown. An informed source close to her family told HRANA that she was arrested in recent days.

 

Iran Protests: Faezeh Barahooi Sentenced to Three Years and Six Months

The Zahedan Revolutionary Court sentenced Faezeh Barahooi to three years and six months. On October 3, 2022, security forces arrested her as a “protest leader” in Zahedan.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Haal Vsh, Faezeh Barahooi, age 25, who was arrested during the nationwide protests, was sentenced to three years and six months in prison.

Barahooi, reportedly, was charged with “propaganda against the regime” and “chanting slogans against the supreme leader.”

 

Iran Protests: Six Individuals Arrested

In recent days, related to nationwide protests, security forces arrested six people in Mariwan, Sanandaj and Mamasani.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on November 6, 2022, Masha’al Alamdari, a resident of Mamasani, was arrested by security forces.

An informed source told HRANA that, in recent weeks, Alamdari was walking in streets without a headscarf. After a few days, she was arrested and charged with writing protest slogans on city walls and protest activities. They transferred her to a detention facility in Shiraz, but we are unaware of her exact whereabouts.

Moreover, Kurdpa reported the arrest of five protestors in Sanandaj and Marivan. These individuals have been identified as Rahmat (last name unknown), Esmail (Last name unknown), Jamal Karami and Shahoo Karami in Sanandaj, and Shakhawan Khavari in Mariwan.

 

Lawyer Mostafa Nili Arrested

On November 7, 2022, security forces arrested lawyer Mostafa Nili and took him to an undisclosed location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, Mostafa Nili, attorney at law, was arrested by security forces.

Nili faced other arrests and convictions last year. On August 14, 2021, along with several lawyers and civil activists, Nili was arrested during a meeting at the office of the Association for the Protection of Civil Rights in Tehran.

Subsequently, the Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced Nili to four years in prison for “running an illegal organization to act against national security and propaganda against the regime.” He was also prohibited from being present in media and practicing law for two years.

Six Citizens Including Three School Students Arrested in Different Cities

Recently, related to nationwide protests, security forces arrested six citizens, including three school students in Kuhdasht, Takab, Tehran and Bushehr.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, six individuals, including three school students, were arrested by security forces in different cities.

HRANA has identified the students as Milad Jahangiri, Sirvan Malekian and Behzad Iranpour, all residents of Takab, West Azerbaijan Province.

Three other citizens have been identified as Amir Mohammadi in Tehran, Mohsen Teymoori in Kuhdasht (Lorestan Province) and Mehdi Omrani in Bushehr.

Mohammadi has been jailed in Great Tehran Penitentiary. The five other individuals’ whereabouts are still unknown.

 

Six Students Arrested in Shiraz

On November 1, related to nationwide protests since the death of Mahsa Amini, security forces arrested six students at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences and took them to an undisclosed location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on November 1, 2022, six students were arrested by security forces in Shiraz.

HRANA has identified these students as Amir-Mohammad Mir-Jalili, Hamid-Reza Safari, Mohammad-Mehdi Nazari, Ali Giasipour, Mohamad Rajabi and Farzin Ahmadi.

The students’ whereabouts are unknown as of this writing.

 

 

Workers’ Rights Activist Kamyar Fakoor Arrested

In the new wave of mass arrests since the outbreak of nationwide protests, today, November 6, 2022, security forces arrested workers’ rights activist Kamyar Fakoor.

The Independent Iranian Workers Union (IIWU) reported that on November 6, security forces arrested workers’ rights activist Kamyar Fakoor at his home. The agents searched his home and confiscated some of his personal belongings.

In August of this year, Fakoor was sentenced to two years imprisonment on the charges of ” spreading falsehood” and ” propaganda against the regime.”

Nationwide Protests: Seventeen People Arrested in Galugah 

The chief police of Galugah, Mazandaran Province, announced the arrest of seventeen people during protests in this county.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Fars News Agency, seventeen people were arrested at protests in Galugah, Mazandaran Province.

This chief police called the detainees “protest leaders” identified and apprehended in their hidden place. The report did not reveal the arrestees’ identities and whereabouts.

Attorney at Law Astareh Ansarei Arrested

On November 2, security forces arrested Astareh (Maryam) Ansari, attorney at law, in Shiraz and took her to an unidentified location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on November 2, 2022, lawyer Astareh Ansari was arrested in Shiraz.

Ansari was arrested in front of the Shiraz Bar association building. The reason for this arrest, the charges and her whereabouts are still unknown.

On the same day, four other lawyers, Ghodsiey Ghodsbin, Alireza Zare, Mehdi Safari and Mohammad Hadi Jafarpour, and the day before, three others, Nazanin Salari, Bahar Sahraeian and Mahmood Taravat were arrested in Shiraz.
