On Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at least three protests took place in Iran.

For the second consecutive day, several medical assistants protested before the Ministry of Health in Tehran. The protestors mentioned the flaws in designing test questions for the medical certification exams as one of the reasons for their protest.

A number of citizens who lost their money due to the corruption and fraud in the Tehran Stock Exchange held a protest in Tehran.

A group of the Shushtar Municipality’s staff gathered in front of Major’s office to protest against unpaid wages and premiums for three months.

HRANA’s Daily Review of Protests in Iran

On Tuesday, August 9, at least 10 protests took place in Iran.

The pensioners of the Social Security Organization took to the streets again and rallied in Ahvaz, Shush, Arak, Shushtar, Dezful, Tehran and Isfahan. They asked to free imprisoned pensioners and levelling up pensions in accordance with Supreme Labor Council’s enactment.

A number of residents of Bazoft, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, gathered before the district governor’s office to protest against the local authorities’ inattention to address the pollution of drinking water. They hanged bottles of polluted water to the entrance door of the district governor’s office.

The workers of the Aram Pars Company working in the petrochemical industry went on strike in protest against delayed wages.

A number of workers of a contractor company working in Mashhad’s Power Plant gathered before the company entrance to ask for wages.

On Tuesday, July 19, and Wednesday, July 20, at least seven protests took place in Iran

Tuesday, July 21

A number of ranchers gathered in front of the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad to protest against the high prices of livestock production inputs.

A number of citizens who have not received their purchased car from the car dealership Ramak Khodro after five years protested in front of this company in Tehran.

 

Wednesday, July 22

Iranian pensioners continued their protests against insufficient pension increases in Behbahan, Ahvaz, Shush and Shushtar.

A number of citizens whose digital assets have been frozen in the cryptocurrency exchange Cryptoland held a protest in Tehran.

On Saturday, July 16, 2022, at least 27 protests took place in Iran

The pensioners of the Social Security Organization protested against low pensions in Karaj, Ahvaz, Isfahan, Arak, Babol, Mashhad, Tabriz, Zanjan, Kerman, Ilam, Khorramshahr, Tehran, Khorramabad, Shushtar, Sirjan, Ardabil, Sirjan, Rasht, Ramhormoz, Sari, Kermanshah, Birjand, Hamedan, Qazvin and Dezful.

In Behbahan, the green maintenance workers of the Municipality gathered to demand their unpaid wages.

Coming from different cities, a number of farmers active in poultry and ostrich farming held a protest in front of the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad.

A group of interns of the Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences protested before a hospital in Tehran.

On Wednesday, July 13, 2022, five protests took place in Iran.

The pensioners of the Social Security Organization continued their protest against low pensions in Ardabil, Kermanshah, Ahvaz, Shush and Shushtar. They chanted slogans asking for the president’s resignation.

A group of medical staffers gathered in front of the Tabriz University of Medical Sciences to protest against layoffs and other issues.

HRANA’s Daily Review of Protests in Iran

On Saturday, July 9, 2022,  two protests and one labour strike took place in Iran.

Continuing their protests against low pensions, the pensioners rallied in front of the Governor-General Building in Ahvaz. A similar demonstration took place in Shushtar. The pensioners chanted slogans against the government, such as “the government betrays, the Parliament supports”, “they are lying that our enemy is America, our enemy is right here,” and  “All three Branches of Government are just puppets, why the supreme leader is silent.”

For the second time, a group of minibus drivers in Bandar Abbas went on strike to protest against the recent decrease in fuel portions and crowded gas stations.

 

 

HRANA’s Daily Review of Protests in Iran

On Wednesday, July 6, 2022, a number of protests and one labour strike took place in Iran.

In Shahrekurd, the Telecommunication personnel gathered on the organization’s premises to protest against the cuts in benefits.

In Shushtar, Isfahan, Kerman, Dorud, Kermanshah and Ahvaz, the pensioners of held protests in front of the Social Security Organization of each city.

For the second consecutive day, the workers of contractor companies working in the Sungun copper mine, went on strike and gathered at their workplace.

On Saturday, July 2, 2022, fourteen protests took place in Iran. Read our review below for details, photos, and videos from these demonstrations:

Continuing their protests against the insufficient annual pension increase, the pensioners rallied in Shushtar, Shush, Zanjan, Isfahan, Sari, Dezful, Karaj, Ahvaz, Abadan, Khorramabad, Hamedan and Kerman. They chanted slogans against the government and called the president a liar for failing to keep his promises. In Arak, the protest turned violent by security forces.

A number of citizens, who have lost their money in the recent robbery of Iran Safe Deposit Boxes of Melli Bank, protested in front of the central building of the Judiciary in Tehran. They demanded the return of their stolen money.

On June 6, 2022, dozens of safe deposit boxes from Melli Bank were stolen by some burglars. One day after, a protest took place, which turned violent by security forces. According to some witnesses, the police and security agents used live ammunition against the protestors.

 

Man Arrested After Being Shot in Shushtar

In Shushtar, Khuzestan Province, security forces injured a man known as Hossein Karamollah Kaab by direct shooting during the arrest attempt.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, Hossein Karamollah Kaab, age 36, was shot. He was arrested and hospitalized.

An informed source told HRANA, “security forces raided Kaab’s shop and beat him violently. He tried to escape, but got shot in the foot and was badly injured. The security agents took him to a hospital in Ahvaz.”

According to this source, the reason for the arrest was that Karamollah Kaab had been summoned to the Ministry of Intelligence office but he refused to appear.

Saturday, May 28

A number of farmers gathered in front of the governorate building of Lorestan in Khorramabad City to demand their water portion. In recent years, drought has affected the livelihood of many farmers. Additionally, poor water supply infrastructure, officials’ water mismanagement and incompetency have exacerbated the situation.

A number of students of Payame Noor University gathered and protested before the main entrance of the university. They asked for taking exams online instead of in person. They said that the university management has not informed the students adequately and on time about the way exams will be given.

Sunday, May 29

A group of nurses working for the Social Security Organization gathered before this organization in Tehran to ask for increasing pensions as allocated for hard and hazardous jobs in accordance with labour law.

The Social Security pensioners held protests in the cities of Qazvin, Ahvaz, Sush, Tabriz, Kermanshah and Mashhad. They chanted slogans against the irresponsibility of the government towards their demands. These pensioners demanded raising their pension to stand above the poverty line, addressing the supplementary insurance issues, the end year bonuses.

 

Tuesday, May 31

A number of teachers of Sanandaj City gathered and protested in front of the Ministry of Education. They chanted, “Imprisoned teacher should be released.”

In Zanjan, a group of pensioners of the Social Security Organization protested before the Planning and Budget Organization office. They asked for increasing wages and pensions.

A number of students of Payame Noor University protested before the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology office in Tehran.

A number of the Sugarcane Agro-Industry Complex of Shushtar gathered before this company to ask for the removal of the CEO. Despite the ministry of Justice’s order for deposing the CEO due to hoarding sugar, he has not yet been removed from the office.

Personnel and faculty members of the Islamic Azad University West Tehran Branch gathered before the entrance to protest against low wages.

A group of students of the Amirkabir University of Technology gathered on campus to ask for their demands.

Wednesday, June 1

A number of farmers from Khorramabad County in Lorestan Province gathered before the County building to protest against not receiving the water portion from the Eyvashan Dam.

For the third consecutive day, pensioners of the Social Security Organization protested in Zanjan. They gathered in front of the governorate building to ask for raising pension and wages in accordance with the Labor Council enactment.

At the same time, Social Security pensioners of Gilan also held a protest before the Central Selection Board of this organization in Rasht.
Iranian Retirement Council also reported a similar protest before the Social Security Organization in Tabriz.

 

A group of retirees and working personnel of Zanjan Telecommunication Company gathered before the management office of this company to protest against not receiving the wage for last month.

The workers of the Agro-Industry Company Karoon Shushar gathered for the second consecutive day in front of the company office building.

The workers said, “Yesterday, in protest gathering, we heard nothing but hollow promises. Therefore, we had to come here again for our denied labor rights.”

Among other demands, the workers ask for the modification of job contracts from temporary to official and closing wage disparities.

A group of workers of AzarAb Industries Company held protests at factory premises for the second consecutive day. They protested against two months’ delays in payment and the suspension from work.

The members of the housing cooperative of the Zanjan University of Medical Sciences gathered before the governorate building of Zanjan Province to ask for their demands.

A group of personnel of the Ilam Telecommunication Company gathered before this company office in Ilam City to protest against unpaid wages and other livelihood issues.

Thursday, June 2

The workers of Tabriz Azar Glass Industries Company held a protest in front of the company to demand several months’ unpaid wages.
