Writer Arsalan Rasouli Amarlooie Receives Six-Month Prison Sentence for Insulting Supreme Leader

The Revolutionary Court in Tonekabon, located in Mazandaran province, has issued a six-month prison sentence for writer Arsalan Rasouli Amarlooie, as reported by Ensafnews.

The charge against Rasouli Amarlooie reportedly stems from his republication of an article written by a former managing editor of Kayhan on the internet.

Rasouli Amarlooie, who writes under the pen name Sargalesh, has been convicted of “insulting the Supreme Leader of Iran.”
In addition to his journalism work, he is the author of several books.

Women’s Rights Activist Raoofeh Mirbagheri Sentenced to Imprisonment and Additional Punishments

The Sari Revolutionary Court sentenced women’s rights activist Raoofeh Mirbagheri, arrested at the 2022 nationwide protests, to eight months in prison, a ban from leaving the country for two years and additional punishments.

According to the verdict issued by the Sari Revolutionary Court, Mirbagheri received eight months for “propaganda against the regime.” She was also banned from membership in and forming political and civil groups. Some of her belongings were also confiscated.

On October 26, 2022, IRGC intelligence agents arrested Mirbagheri in Tonekabon and transferred her to an undisclosed location. After 32 days of detention, she was released on bail until the end of the legal proceeding.

About the 2022 Nationwide Protests

The arrest of Mahsa Amini by Tehran Morality Police for her improper hejab and her suspicious death on September 16 sparked protests sweeping across Iran. During the nationwide protests, about 19600 people, including journalists, artists, lawyers, teachers, students and civil rights activists, were arrested.

 

Women’s Rights Activist Raoofeh Mirbagheri Arrested

On October 26, 2022, IRGC intelligence agents arrested women’s rights activist Raoofeh Mirbagheri in Tonekabon and transferred her to an undisclosed location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on October 26, 2022, women’s rights activist Raoofeh Mirbagheri was arrested in Tonekabon, Mazandaran Province.

The reason for this arrest and her whereabouts are unknown as of yet.

13 Detainees of Recent Protests Summoned to the Court in Tonekabon

HRANA News Agency – Thirteen protesters who had been arrested in recent protests by security forces, were summoned to Tonekabon Justice Office. The allegations were announced as; “participating in illegal gatherings”, “insulting the leadership”, “disrupting public order”, and “propaganda against the regime”.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), thirteen protesters who had been arrested in the recent demonstrations in December and January in Tonekabon, and were partially released on the bail, have been summoned to the Justice Department of Tonekabon. Two more executions / one in public

HRANA News Agency – 2 prisoners were executed on charge of murder, one in public, at Shahid-Shiroudi square of Tonekabon, and the other in prison number two of Tonekabon on Nashtaroud on Thursday September 19.

According to a report of IRIB, Asghar Talebi, the attorney general of Tonekabon claimed: “accused person has been sentenced to two-time nemesis, for murdering two people, hanged in Shahid-Shiroudi square of Tonekabon”. Continue reading “Two more executions / one in public”
