At Least 10 Prisoners Executed On Drug-Related Charges and Murder

HRANA – At dawn today, the death sentences of at least 10 prisoners were carried out in the prisons of Gorgan, Qaemshahr, Dorud, Isfahan, Neyshabur, Kerman, Kashan, Saveh, Quchan, and Zanjan. These prisoners had previously been sentenced to death on charges related to drug offenses and murder.

Based on information received by HRANA, Ilya Saei was executed in Gorgan Prison; Navid Shahsavar in Qaemshahr Prison; Ali Safar Goodarzi in Dorud Prison; Saman Joozi in Isfahan Prison; Yaghoub Shafieizadeh in Neyshabur Prison; Heshmat Shokri in Kerman Prison; Sultan-Morad Shabani in Kashan Prison; and Keyvan Aminpour in Saveh Prison. These individuals had previously been arrested in separate cases on murder charges and sentenced to death by criminal courts.

Meanwhile, the executions of Siavash Amouzad in Quchan Prison and Roozbeh Zamani in Zanjan Prison were carried out on charges related to drug offenses.

As of the time of this report, prison officials and relevant authorities have not officially announced these executions.

According to HRA’s annual report, at least 2,063 individuals were executed in Iran during 2025. This represents a 119% increase in executions compared to 2024. In many of these cases, due to secrecy, prisoners were even deprived of the right to a final visit with their families.

Twenty Prisoners Executed on Murder and Drug-Related Charges

HRANA- Over the course of today and yesterday, at least twenty prisoners were executed in various prisons across Iran on charges related to murder and drug-related offenses.

The names of those executed yesterday are as follows:

On murder charges:

  • • Khaled Hosseini – Nowshahr Prison

  • • Mehdi Jafarian – Ardabil Prison

  • • Abbas Khordbin – Semnan Prison

  • • Shah Mirza Ghaedrahmati – Borujerd Prison

On drug-related charges:

  • • Rahman Najafi – Arak Prison

  • • Nezam Tajik, an Afghan national – Bandar Abbas Prison

  • • Younes Bagheri – Tabriz Prison

  • • Parsa Taghizadeh – Qazvin Prison

  • • Danial Abdi – Qom Prison

  • • Hamid Kariyabi – Naein Prison

Today, February 9, the death sentences of ten additional prisoners were carried out in various prisons:

On murder charges:

  • • Shayan Tojihi – Qaemshahr Prison

  • • Rouzbeh Amanatdoust – Quchan Prison

  • • Mohammad Zalitabar – Gorgan Prison

  • • Abedin Ahmadi – Neyshabur Prison

  • • Mohsen Rezaei – Dorud Prison

  • • Karim Javadi – Zanjan Prison

  • • Shahla Dowlatabadi – Kerman Prison

  • • Hooshang Shokouhi – Saveh Prison

On drug-related charges:

  • • Keyvan Akbari – Isfahan Prison

According to HRANA’s annual report, in 2025, at least 2,063 people were executed in Iran. Based on this data, the implementation of death sentences has increased by 119% compared to 2024. In many of these executions, due to secrecy, prisoners were denied even a final visit with their families.

Execution of 14 Prisoners on Murder and Drug-Related Charges

Amid ongoing concerns over the lack of judicial transparency and widespread internet disruptions in Iran, at least 14 prisoners were executed in various prisons across the country in the last four days. These prisoners had previously been sentenced to death on charges related to drug offenses and murder.

Based on information received by HRANA, Rastin Noorian was executed on Tuesday in Behbahan Prison on a charge of murder. On the same day, Farshid Darabi in Sari Prison and Changiz Ghafoori in Bukan Prison were also executed on murder charges. In addition, Amirali Haghighat-Doost was hanged on Tuesday in Gonabad Prison on charges related to drug offenses. On Wednesday, Houshang Maleki in Ferdows Prison, Touraj Rashidi in Esfarayen Prison, Shaho Safari in Sanandaj Prison, and Jalal Papi in Nowshahr Prison were all executed on murder charges. Two other prisoners were executed in Rasht Prison on murder charges; the identity of one of them, Ashkan Kalehri, has been confirmed by HRANA.

On Monday, Iman Zamani was executed in Quchan Prison on charges related to drug offenses. Additionally, on Wednesday, Momen Abdi-Pour was executed in Mahshahr Prison on a charge of murder. Meanwhile, today, Thursday, January 22, Abdullah Panjshiri, an Afghan national, was executed in Taybad Prison on charges related to drug offenses. Nariman Sohrabi was also executed in Bojnord Prison on a murder charge.

Further details, including the identity of one of the prisoners executed in Rasht Prison, are still under investigation by HRANA.

Execution of at Least 22 Prisoners on Charges of Murder and Drug-Related Offenses

HRANA – Amid nationwide protests and the continued widespread internet shutdown in Iran, between January 12 to January 15, 2026, the death sentences of at least 22 prisoners, including one woman, were carried out in various prisons across the country. These individuals had previously been sentenced to death on charges including murder, drug-related crimes, and moharebeh (enmity against God) through armed robbery.

Based on HRANA’s findings, on Monday, January 12, 2026, Arta Saei was executed in Nowshahr Prison on a charge of murder. On January 13, four other prisoners were executed: Akram Rezaei (female) and Hamzeh Jafari, both on murder charges in Rasht Prison; Kourosh Bozorgmehr on a charge of moharebeh through armed robbery in Sanandaj Prison; and Mohammadjavad Naeimi on a murder charge in Gonabad Prison.

On Wednesday, January 14, 11 prisoners who had previously been sentenced to death on murder charges were executed in various prisons. Among them were three prisoners in Shiraz Prison, one of whom has been identified as Sharif Dehghani; Armin Aghapour in Bushehr Prison; Jalil Shahbazi in Mashhad Prison; Ali Agha Hemmati in Chabahar Prison; Mousa Askari in Damghan Prison; Mehrshad Asadabadi in Mahabad Prison; Seyed Ali Hatami in Ferdows Prison; Ehsan Ansari in Quchan Prison; and Aziz Morad Hosseini in Esfarayen Prison. On the same day, Borzou Mahdinia was executed in Malayer Prison and Farshad Heydari-Kia in Bojnurd Prison. These two prisoners had previously been sentenced to death on drug-related charges.

Continuing on Thursday, January 15, four more prisoners were executed on murder charges. On that day, Azim Omari was executed in Behbahan Prison; Saleh Kaabi in Mahshahr Prison; Omid Jamshidi in Sari Prison; and an Afghan national in Taybad Prison.

Further details, including the identification of three of the prisoners, are still under investigation by HRANA.

The continued large-scale implementation of death sentences amid internet shutdowns and severe restrictions on the flow of information has intensified concerns over the lack of judicial transparency, prisoners’ denial of access to fair trials, and the heightened risk of violations of the right to life. Human rights organizations have repeatedly warned that carrying out executions in a securitized and opaque environment increases the likelihood of serious human rights abuses.

On this day, six individuals were executed on murder charges in various prisons:

Sepehr Moradi, in Mahshahr Prison;
Jalal Taheri, in Bukan Prison;
Habib Amouri, in Sepidar Prison;
Afshin Toosi, in Quchan Prison;
Milad Norouzi, in Nowshahr Prison;

Additionally, on Sunday, December 21, Rastin Karami was executed by hanging on a murder charge in Sanandaj Prison.

At Least 21 Prisoners Executed Across Iran in Recent Days

HRANA – In recent days, multiple executions have been carried out in various prisons across Iran on charges related to murder and drug offenses. This report reviews details of 21 executed prisoners.

Sunday, December 14:
HRANA reported the execution of a prisoner named Kamran Nouri on murder charges in Sanandaj Prison.
Iran Human Rights Organization also reported the execution of a prisoner named Mansour Ghaneh, approximately 30 years old and from Ahvaz, in Sepidar Prison of Ahvaz.

Monday, December 15:
HRANA reported the execution of a prisoner identified as Nourzad (first name unknown) on murder charges in Nowshahr Prison.

Tuesday, December 16:

In Lakan Prison in Rasht, the execution sentences of three prisoners convicted of murder were carried out. Further details, including their identities, are under investigation by HRANA.
Additionally, Ashkan Rasouli was executed on murder charges in Ferdows Prison; Kambiz Dirbazian on drug-related charges in Esfarayen Prison; and Arsalan Arab on murder charges in Dezful Prison.

Wednesday, December 17:
According to HRANA, on this day the following prisoners were executed:

Mehdi Ghorbani in Mahshahr Prison,
Kazem Taheri in Behbahan Prison,
Mojtaba Falahati in Sari Prison,
Ario Niazi in Dizelabad Prison, Kermanshah,
Arian Jowkar in Quchan Prison.

All of the above individuals had been sentenced to death on murder charges.
Additionally, Shirzad Farhangi was executed on drug-related charges in Gonabad Prison.

Iran Human Rights Organization also reported the execution of two prisoners on murder charges, Alireza Soltani, approximately 49 years old, and Nasser Ayoubi, 28 years old, in Tabriz Prison.

According to HRANA, the death sentences of the following individuals were carried out on this day:

Jaber Torkaman, on murder charges, in Bukan Prison;
Karam Reza Karami, on drug-related charges, in Bojnurd Prison;
An Afghan national of unknown identity, on drug-related charges, in Taybad Prison;
Abolfazl Shirzadi, on murder charges, in Malayer Prison.

As of the time of this report, these executions have not been officially announced by prison authorities or relevant institutions.

The Iran Human Rights Organization also reported the execution of four prisoners on drug-related charges in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan. In addition to the execution of Mohammadbaqer Souri, which HRANA had previously reported, three other prisoners—identified as Shahram Mirzadeh, Fardin Rezaei (37 years old), and Habib Faridi (approximately 30 years old)—were hanged in this prison.

Report on the Execution of 36 Prisoners in Various Prisons Across Iran

HRANA – In recent days, a broad wave of executions has continued across Iran, with dozens of prisoners, mostly charged with murder or drug-related offenses, hanged in various prisons throughout the country.

November 16:
According to Iran Human Rights, two prisoners, Sajjad Habibi from Fardis, Karaj, and Mohammadreza Besharat from Tehran, were executed in Qazvin Prison. According to the report, Sajjad Habibi had been arrested about four years ago on charges of intentional murder following a street altercation and was sentenced to death by the Criminal Court. Mohammadreza Besharat, 27, had also been arrested about six years ago on charges of intentional murder and sentenced to death.

Monday, November 17:
According to HRANA, a prisoner of Afghan nationality was hanged in Ferdows Prison on drug-related charges.

Tuesday, November 18:
On this day, HRANA reported that the death sentence of Heydar Tahmasebi, convicted of murder, was carried out in Mahshahr Prison.

Wednesday, November 19:
HRANA reported the executions of Shahrokh Sattari, convicted of murder, in Ardabil Prison, and Mohammadkarim Bastami, convicted on drug-related charges, in Quchan Prison.
Iran Human Rights also reported the execution of Kianoush Shadman, 29, in Lakan Prison of Rasht; Reza Nosrati, 25, and Mansour Deirin, 36, convicted of murder, in Adelabad Prison of Shiraz; and Hamidreza Pirhadi, 37, convicted of murder, in Borujerd Prison.

Thursday, November 20:
HRANA reported the execution of Mahan Sheikhi, convicted of murder, in Saveh Prison.
According to Iran Human Rights, Ne’mat Majidzadeh and Mehran Darabian, 27, were executed in Semnan Prison on charges of murder and rape, respectively; Mobin Ramazani from Yazd and Hassan Shokat, 43, were executed in Yazd Prison on drug-related charges; and Mozaffar Abdolvand, 30, was executed on murder charges in Dorud Prison.

Saturday, November 22:
HRANA reported the execution of Mohammad Tajik, an Afghan national, convicted of murder, in Taybad Prison.
HRANA also reported that on the same day, Sasan Misaghi (murder) in Yasuj Prison, Jassem Aghaei (murder) in Karaj Central Penitentiary, Rastin Baharvand (murder) in Khorramabad Prison, Peyman Alizadeh (drug-related offenses) in Bandar Abbas Prison, and Yaser Abdoli and Yaroli Haseli (drug-related offenses) in Dizelabad Prison in Kermanshah were executed.
HRANA further reported the execution of two additional prisoners on drug-related charges in Hamedan Prison. Details, including confirmation of the prisoners’ identities, are still under investigation by HRANA.
On the same day, Sari Prison witnessed the execution of two prisoners convicted of murder. Iran Human Rights confirmed the identity of one of them as Hooshang Hashemzadeh, 34, and HRANA confirmed the second as Amir Moradi.

Sunday, November 23:
HRANA reported the following executions:

Ayoub Zeidi, convicted of murder, in Tabriz Prison
Mousa Golpayegani, drug-related charges, in Semnan Prison
Mohammad Hossein Akbari, murder, in Dezful Prison
Amir Nosrat Piriyan, drug-related charges, in Bam Prison
Mahmoud Ali Soltanabadi and (first name unknown) Maleki, murder, in Qom Prison
Three prisoners on drug-related charges in Arak Prison, HRANA has confirmed the identity of one, Mirza Janalizadeh.

At the time of this report, the executions had not been announced by prison officials or the relevant authorities.

Detention of Ali Adinezadeh, Father of Slain Protester, Extended Again in Quchan Prison

Ali Adinezadeh’s detention has been extended for another month. He is the father of Abolfazl Adinezadeh, a teenager who lost his life during the 2022 nationwide protests, and has been held in Quchan Prison for 43 days.

HRANA learned from a close contact of the detainee that his request to replace the detention order with bail has been denied, and his detention was extended by an additional 20 days. Adinezadeh has now spent 43 days in Quchan Prison with his status unresolved.

Adinezadeh was arrested on July 24, 2024, after appearing at Branch 1 of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Public and Revolutionary Court in Quchan, and was then transferred to the city’s prison.

Ali Adinezadeh, the father of Abolfazl Adinezadeh, who was killed during the 2022 nationwide protests, had previously faced legal action due to his activism.

Ali Adinezadeh Arrested and Transferred to Quchan Prison

Ali Adinezadeh, father of Abolfazl Adinezadeh, the teenager who was killed bu regime forces during the 2022 nationwide protests, was arrested today transferred to the city’s prison.

Based on information received by HRANA, Mr. Adinezadeh’s arrest took place today, Wednesday, July 24, after he appeared at Branch 1 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Quchan. Following his arrest, he was transferred to the city’s prison.
A source close to the family confirmed this news to HRANA and stated: “In recent days, Ali Adinezadeh received a summons to appear at the mentioned judicial branch to defend himself against charges, including ‘spreading falsehoods to disturb public opinion’ and ‘propaganda against the regime.'”

Adinezadeh has previously faced judicial actions due to his activities. His son, Abolfazl Adinezadeh was shot dead by regime forces during the 2022 nationwide protest in Mashhad, reportedly by 25 bullets.
