19 Prisoners Executed in Multiple Prisons

HRANA – On Sunday, January 4, the death sentences of 16 prisoners, previously convicted on charges related to drug offenses and murder, were carried out in various prisons across Iran. Additionally, on January 3, the death sentences of three prisoners convicted of murder and moharebeh (enmity against God) through armed robbery were carried out in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz.

The identities of the 16 prisoners executed at dawn on Sunday, January 4, have been confirmed by HRANA as follows:

  • • Nima (last name unknown), executed in Bandar Abbas Prison

  • • Arman Nazari, executed on drug-related charges in Semnan Prison

  • • Vali Karambeigi, executed on murder charges in Borujerd Prison

  • • Sajad Golmohammadi, executed on murder charges in Ardabil Prison

  • • Kazem Sourian, executed on murder charges in Khorramabad Prison

  • • Soroush Khani, executed on murder charges in Karaj Penitentiary

  • • Mohsen Qaedrahmat, executed on murder charges in Aligudarz Prison

  • • Shakaram Masti, executed on murder charges in Kermanshah Prison

  • • Hamid Reza Moradi, executed on murder charges in Dezful Prison

  • • Asghar Babaei, executed on drug-related charges in Hamedan Prison

  • • Noureddin Eidizadeh, executed on murder charges in Nahavand Prison

  • • Ahmad Saki, executed on drug-related charges in Nahavand Prison

Additionally, three prisoners were executed on January 3 in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz. The identities of two of them have been confirmed by HRANA as Asghar Shahi and Khalil Rahmani. Mr. Rahmani had been arrested and sentenced to death on charges of murder, while Mr. Shahi and the third prisoner had been sentenced to death on charges of moharebeh through armed robbery.

As of the time of this report, the executions have not been officially announced by prison authorities or relevant state institutions.

According to the annual report on the state of human rights in Iran, published by the Statistics, Publications, and Documentation Unit of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, at least 2,063 people were executed in Iran during the one-year period from January 1, 2025, to January 1, 2026. Based on this report, the number of executions more than doubled compared to 2024. In many cases, due to secrecy surrounding executions, prisoners were denied the right to a final visit with their families.

Iran Carries Out at Least 26 Executions Within 48 Hours

HRANA – Over the past two days, at least 26 prisoners have been executed in various prisons across Iran on charges related to drug offenses and murder.

Tuesday, December 30

Previously, HRANA had reported in another report the execution of nine prisoners on that day. In addition to those nine, the following executions were also reported on the same day.

According to HRANA, a prisoner named Hojjat Amini-Zadeh was executed on a murder charge in Shahrekord Prison. Another prisoner, whose identity remains unknown, was also executed on a murder charge in Lakan Prison in Rasht.
The outlet Haal Vsh reported the execution of Mansour Rigi (Chakerzehi), a 38-year-old father of four from Zahedan, who was executed in Semnan Prison on charges related to drug offenses.

Sohbat Fathi, on a murder charge, in Mahabad Prison
Meysam Naseri, on a murder charge, in Bushehr Prison
Karamali Khani, on a murder charge, in Kashmar Prison
One Afghan national, on a murder charge, in Chabahar Prison
Three prisoners on murder charges in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz; HRANA has confirmed the identity of one of them as Ehsan Dehghan Panah

Thursday, December 26:
Morad Karimi Goleh and Norouz (Norouzi) Khalafi were executed on charges of murder in Shushtar Prison.

Saturday, December 27:
HRANA reported the executions of the following individuals:

Ahmad Reza Esfahani, on charges of murder, in Yasuj Prison;
Vihan Shah Mohamm, on charges of murder, in Sanandaj Prison;
Mostafa Mehrjou, on charges of murder, in Ardabil Prison;
Milad Nejati, on charges of murder, in the Central Prison of Karaj;
Khalil Nouri, on charges of murder, in Khorramabad Prison;
Rahim Khodaparast, on charges of murder, in Nahavand Prison;
Ahmad Ali Saffari, on charges of murder, in Aligudarz Prison;
Nariman Souri, on drug-related charges, in Kermanshah Prison;

Additionally, Iran Human Rights Organization reported the execution of two prisoners, Hesam Norouzi, 28 years old, from Khalkhal, and Mohammad Hassan Sharafi, from Ardabil, on charges of murder in Ardabil Prison.

Bismillah Tajik, an Afghan national, on charges of murder, in Bandar Abbas Prison;
Ali Safar Sepahvand, on charges of murder, in Borujerd Prison;
Aziz Ali Kolkhani, on drug-related charges, in Qazvin Prison;
Two prisoners executed on charges of murder in Tabriz Prison, one of whom has been identified by HRANA as Moein Hassan-Zadeh.

Furthermore, according to Iran Human Rights Organization, on Monday, December 22, in addition to the execution of Nariman Mohammadi, who had previously been sentenced to death on charges of murder, the death sentences of two other prisoners were carried out in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan. They were identified as Eskandar Bakhshoudeh, 32, from Tehran, and Taher Bastani. Both had been sentenced to death on charges of murder.

Also, on Wednesday, December 24, according to HRANA, three prisoners named Mehdi Rajabali-Zadeh, Mostafa Keyfari, and Sohrab Majidi were executed on charges of murder in Lakan Prison in Rasht.

At Least 17 Prisoners Executed in Iranian Prisons Over Two Days

From the beginning of this year until the end of November, 2025, the Iranian regime has executed 1,594 people, marking an unprecedented increase compared to previous years.

Fifteen Executions Reported Across Iran’s Prisons in Just Three Days

HRANA- Amid an unprecedented surge in executions in Iran’s prisons, fifteen additional executions have been reported over the past three days by HRANA and other human rights organizations.

Sunday, November 30
According to Haal Vsh, a prisoner named Mansour Jalali, a father of three, was executed in Kerman Prison on drug-related charges.

Monday, December 1
According to HRANA, on this day:

Nourkhoda Karami was executed in Qom Prison on drug-related charges;
Javad Souri was executed in Shahr-e Kord Prison on a murder charge;
Seyed Ali Hajipour was executed in Taybad Prison on drug-related charges;
Tayeb Minaei was executed in Ahvaz Prison on a murder charge;
Parsa Abdi and an Afghan national were executed in Bandar Abbas Prison on drug-related charges.

HRANA also reported the execution of two prisoners in Tabriz Prison on drug-related charges. Further details, including their identities, are still being investigated.

Tuesday, December 2
According to HRANA, three prisoners were executed in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan. HRANA has confirmed the identity of one of them, Shahab Mokhtari, whose death sentence was carried out at dawn today. Mokhtari had been arrested earlier on drug-related charges and later sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.

HRANA also reported the execution of a prisoner named Sultan Morad Nasiri in Esfarayen Prison. Several years ago, he had been arrested in Kerman Province on drug-related charges and sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.

According to Mizan, the death sentence of a prisoner was carried out in public in Semnan. The head of the Semnan Provincial Judiciary stated that the prisoner had strangled his wife to death in 2020 and subsequently staged the scene to conceal the crime.

The NGO Iran Human Rights also reported the execution of a 27-year-old prisoner named Abbas Mozaffarzadeh, from Malard, on drug-related charges in Qom Prison.

Except for the public execution in Semnan, none of the other executions have been announced by prison authorities or other official bodies.

Report on the Execution of 36 Prisoners in Various Prisons Across Iran

HRANA – In recent days, a broad wave of executions has continued across Iran, with dozens of prisoners, mostly charged with murder or drug-related offenses, hanged in various prisons throughout the country.

November 16:
According to Iran Human Rights, two prisoners, Sajjad Habibi from Fardis, Karaj, and Mohammadreza Besharat from Tehran, were executed in Qazvin Prison. According to the report, Sajjad Habibi had been arrested about four years ago on charges of intentional murder following a street altercation and was sentenced to death by the Criminal Court. Mohammadreza Besharat, 27, had also been arrested about six years ago on charges of intentional murder and sentenced to death.

Monday, November 17:
According to HRANA, a prisoner of Afghan nationality was hanged in Ferdows Prison on drug-related charges.

Tuesday, November 18:
On this day, HRANA reported that the death sentence of Heydar Tahmasebi, convicted of murder, was carried out in Mahshahr Prison.

Wednesday, November 19:
HRANA reported the executions of Shahrokh Sattari, convicted of murder, in Ardabil Prison, and Mohammadkarim Bastami, convicted on drug-related charges, in Quchan Prison.
Iran Human Rights also reported the execution of Kianoush Shadman, 29, in Lakan Prison of Rasht; Reza Nosrati, 25, and Mansour Deirin, 36, convicted of murder, in Adelabad Prison of Shiraz; and Hamidreza Pirhadi, 37, convicted of murder, in Borujerd Prison.

Thursday, November 20:
HRANA reported the execution of Mahan Sheikhi, convicted of murder, in Saveh Prison.
According to Iran Human Rights, Ne’mat Majidzadeh and Mehran Darabian, 27, were executed in Semnan Prison on charges of murder and rape, respectively; Mobin Ramazani from Yazd and Hassan Shokat, 43, were executed in Yazd Prison on drug-related charges; and Mozaffar Abdolvand, 30, was executed on murder charges in Dorud Prison.

Saturday, November 22:
HRANA reported the execution of Mohammad Tajik, an Afghan national, convicted of murder, in Taybad Prison.
HRANA also reported that on the same day, Sasan Misaghi (murder) in Yasuj Prison, Jassem Aghaei (murder) in Karaj Central Penitentiary, Rastin Baharvand (murder) in Khorramabad Prison, Peyman Alizadeh (drug-related offenses) in Bandar Abbas Prison, and Yaser Abdoli and Yaroli Haseli (drug-related offenses) in Dizelabad Prison in Kermanshah were executed.
HRANA further reported the execution of two additional prisoners on drug-related charges in Hamedan Prison. Details, including confirmation of the prisoners’ identities, are still under investigation by HRANA.
On the same day, Sari Prison witnessed the execution of two prisoners convicted of murder. Iran Human Rights confirmed the identity of one of them as Hooshang Hashemzadeh, 34, and HRANA confirmed the second as Amir Moradi.

Execution of a Prisoner in Semnan Prison

HRANA – At dawn on Monday, October 27, 2025, the death sentence of a prisoner previously convicted on drug-related charges was carried out in Semnan Prison.

HRANA has identified the prisoner as Hosseinali Montazeri, a resident of Pakdasht.
Based on information obtained by HRANA, Mr. Montazeri had been arrested earlier on drug-related charges and was later sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.

As of the time of this report, the execution of this prisoner has not been announced by prison officials or relevant authorities.

According to HRANA’s report, in 2024, over 52 percent of executed prisoners had been convicted on drug-related charges. Over the past ten years, individuals convicted of drug trafficking have accounted for 40 percent of all executions. Unfortunately, HRANA’s statistics show no progress in reducing executions for drug-related offenses.

Prisoner Executed in Semnan Prison for Drug-Related Charges

HRANA– Yesterday, Tuesday, August 5, the death sentence of a prisoner previously convicted on drug-related charges was carried out in Semnan Prison.

HRANA has identified the executed prisoner as Jahanshah Iravani, who was hanged at dawn yesterday.

According to information received by HRANA, Mr. Iravani had been arrested on drug-related charges and sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.

As of the time of this report, the execution has not been officially announced by prison authorities or relevant institutions.

According to HRANA’s report, in 2024, over 52 percent of executed prisoners had been convicted on drug-related charges. Report on the Execution of 6 Prisoners in Various Prisons

HRANA News Agency – The death sentences of six prisoners, previously convicted on charges related to drug offenses, murder, and moharebeh (enmity against God) through armed robbery, were carried out in the prisons of Gonabad, Shiraz, Semnan, Yasuj, Arak, and Kermanshah.

The identities of five of these prisoners have been confirmed by HRANA: Mahmoud Dehghan, Yashar Amini, Ali Vaezi, Sadegh Asgari, and Faramarz (last name unknown), a resident of Dizelabad, Kermanshah. The identity of another prisoner, an Afghan national, is still under investigation.

Based on information obtained by HRANA, Mahmoud Dehghan was executed at dawn on Monday, June 16, in Shiraz Prison. Yashar Amini was executed at dawn on Sunday, June 15, in Yasuj Prison. Both prisoners had previously been arrested on murder charges and sentenced to death by criminal courts.

The Afghan national, whose identity is being verified by HRANA, was executed at dawn on Sunday, June 15, in Gonabad Prison. He had been previously arrested on drug-related charges and sentenced to death by a Revolutionary Court.

Regarding Faramarz, it is reported that he had been arrested five years ago on charges of moharebeh through armed robbery and was sentenced to death. He was executed at dawn on Saturday, June 14 (24 Khordad), in Kermanshah Prison.

Additionally, Ali Vaezi was executed on Friday, June 13, in Semnan Prison, and Sadegh Asgari was hanged at dawn on Tuesday, June 10, in Arak Prison. These prisoners had previously been arrested on drug-related charges and sentenced to death by Revolutionary Courts.

As of the time of this report, prison officials and relevant authorities have not officially announced these executions.

In 2024, according to 812 reports compiled by HRANA, the Iranian regime executed 930 individuals in its prisons—marking the highest number of executions in the past 12 years. Despite the scale of these executions, prison officials and other relevant authorities publicly acknowledged only 6% of them, highlighting the regime’s lack of transparency and accountability.
