Supreme Court confirms a man’s death sentence

HRANA News Agency – The death sentence of a man who is charged with killing his temporary wife has been confirmed by the Supreme Court.

 

According to a report by Khorasan newspaper, Mehdi is charged with killing his temporary wife, Zohre, on July 25, 2009.

Shahran locals gathered in front of Tehran City Council

HRANA News Agency – A number of locals of Shahran in the region 5 of Tehran gathered in front of Tehran City Council against the destruction of Asia Park.

According to a report by Iran channel, a number of the locals of Shahran gathered protesting against cutting the trees and illegal destruction of Asia Park.

The demonstrators have gathered with a rose flower in their hands and some placards written on them: “Dear Mayor, listen to the City Council, we condemn destroying the landscape, the agriculture of Shahran and Kan are being destroyed, Mr. Ghalibaf free the Park.”

Two Christians are in detention for more than seven weeks

HRANA News Agency – About seven weeks ago plainclothes security agents arrested Shahrzad Y and Sam S, two of converted Christians community in Tehran.

According to a report of Mohebbat News, security agents arrested the two converted Christians on January 9th of 2013 at 11 a.m.

Both of them arrested at the same time in different places.

Human Rights violations in Iran Yearly Statistical – Special Year 2011

In a prediction report, it contains Statistical Data (2010-2011) of Human Rights violations in Iran. The statistical basis of this report, that has been prepared, will provide analytical, statistical efforts of institution, and the publication of Human Rights Activists in Iran.

Certainly, due to the Iranian government not allowing human rights defenders to work properly in reporting Human Rights violations and preventing the free flow of information, it does not recognizes the independence of the civil activities, and at the moment, reporting these issues are something with many limitations, difficulty and dangerous in Iran.

Obviously, in such situation for Human Rights defenders, despite great difficulties, only a very small volume of human Rights violations are being monitored, researched and documented in relation to media reports, and finding other groups. However with regards to the restrictions, we can» t deny the analytical error of the content, but the Human Rights entity have known the statistical content and analysis repots with %3 margin of error, rare in its own kind.

As in the first section of the report, it is necessary to notice the human Rights group activities and effort in Iran to improve the reporting of human Rights violations, however, statistics can make dramatic differences in terms of the reports focused on the center of the country compared to other parts of the country as one of the weaknesses of Iran «s civil society entities.

Bodily Search of Female Students at University of Science & Culture

HRANA News Agency – Following the implementation of gender segregation at universities throughout Iran, the entrances for male and female students at the University of Science & Culture in Tehran (USC) have been segregated, and female students have been subject to bodily searches.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), as the new school year began in Iran, USC female students were directed towards a canvas tarp hung at the entrance designated for them.Iran’s semi-secret police tasked to monitor all educational institutes, Herasat, was established behind this curtain to inspect female students’ clothing and makeup.

In an unprecedented act, USC Herasat subjected several female students to bodily searches and asked to see their student ID cards.University students who didn’t have their ID cards with them were denied attending classes at USC and sent home.Additionally, a number of other students were asked to present birth certificates or driving licenses.Faced with students objecting to being searched, USC Herasat cited a notice issued by the university officials authorizing the bodily search.

To increase pressure on university students, the number of female agents at USC has increased significantly.Although USC Herasat had in the past confronted students aggressively and insulted them for their attire, as a result of gender segregation, USC semi-secret police has begun a new phase of its operations.

Two Iranian Weekly Publications on Trial

HRANA News Agency – On Sunday, June 26, 2011, the court hearing to review the charges against Chel Cheragh and Sayeh Tehran publications was held in Branch 76 of Tehran Province Criminal Court.A panel of judges presided over the trial while a jury consisting of representatives from Iranian press was also present.

According to a report by Iranian Student News Agency (ISNA), at the beginning of this court session, the indictment against the weekly magazine Chel Cheragh was read.Tehran Public and Revolutionary Court had filed charges against Chel Cheragh’s editor accusing him of the publication of women’s pictures as sex objects.

Additionally, the charges against the weekly publication Sayeh Tehran was dropped as the private plaintiff consented to withdraw the complaint.The publishers of Sayeh Tehran had been charged with distributing false reports.

Dismissal of all Baha’i Employees of Achilandoor Company

HRANA News Agency – While more than two months have passed since the CEO and five employees of Achilandoor Company were detained by IRGC [Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps] intelligence officers, in the last few days, all Baha’i employees and workers of this company in the cities of Tehran and Mashhad have been fired following an order issued by the Intelligence Office of IRGC.
